The World Of Modest Fashion

With the Holy month of Ramadan here, and with Eid around the corner, The Fashion Havildar (TFH) delves into the world of Modest fashion. Think embellished abayas, flowing maxi dresses, beautiful kaftans and jalabiyas, for the festive season to ensure that you are without a doubt IFTAR PARTY FABULOUS!

The festive season clothes range from high street to haute couture fashion.

I love this orange satin gown from high street fav Mango.  The gown has a rounded neck, slit detail as well as gathered details.  It also has long puffed sleeves, a fitted waist, asymmetric hem and a teardrop fastening at the back. Perfect for any Iftar or Suhoor gathering, without breaking the bank at AED 399.

Michael Kors

One of my fav looks for the festive season is this stunning blue gold foil print kaftan, priced at AED 1,430. Michael Kors clearly has understood the consumer demand and buying power in the Middle Eastern region, by designing modest clothes.  According to Mr Kors “there is no one kind of beauty today – there is every kind of beauty,” Michael says the best customers are, “Those who are excited about fashion, who are always interested in what’s new and what’s next, and who recognise and appreciate quality, and I think our customers in the Middle East are all of that, and more.” (www.harpersbazaararabia.com.)

The Modist

For more high-end Ramadan fashion, we turn to the Modist who have paired up with a whole host of well renowned international designers to bring you this festive seasons collection. I love this Peter Pilotto Metallic Fil Coupe Kaftan that has been created to add a hint of glamour to your evening wardrobe. It is cut to fall to an ankle-skimming length; the metallic style is detailed with cascading ruffles that flow along the sides and the sleeves and is priced at AED 6,625.

Another favourite look from this collection is the Godet Straught Kaftan, from Osman and priced at AED 3,940.  This is an effortless piece reflecting the label’s love for modernity and sophistication. The kaftan is designed to fall fluidly to the floor, this loose-fitting design features glittering panels on the front and back combined with glittering godets on the sides.

Wishing all of you a blessed Eid!
