NK – Hi guys, so how are you feeling with just a couple of days to go till the exhibition?

AA – Excited and nervous, a bit of both.

JK – As always it’s a heady mix of excitement and being anxious and hoping that all goes really well.

NK – So tell us a little about the history of Modista.

AA – Modista was conceived in 2013 with an aim to give a platform to upcoming and global talent, as well as variety to shoppers under one roof.

JK – In brief Anuradha and I met a couple of years ago through a common friend and we decided to start our venture together. I was into events and PR and she was already into exhibitions. It felt like we’d make a good team, and now we are almost 25 exhibitions down and still killing it!

NK – What do you feel are the key elements that have made it into such a success?

AA – We are always trying to revamp ourselves with the current trends and needs of the consumer.

JK – Success is a very relative term and yes we are extremely proud of our achievements so far but all I can say is that the best is yet to come! Some of the key elements that have contributed to our success are hard work, sincerity and team unity.

NK – What can shoppers look forward to at the 15th edition of the exhibition?

AA – Lots of new brands with fresh silhouettes are being showcased at the 15th edition of Modista.

JK – As always there’s lots to do at MODISTA and shoppers will be pleasantly surprised to find a lot of new designers and designer collections this time. From accessories to real jewellery it’s all there and of course, there’s free face mapping, nail art and delectable momos and sushi to keep everybody going and shopping!

NK – Do you have any new designers that are being showcasing for the first time?

AA – We have a big list of new names but the headliners are Pernia Qureshi & Shaheen Abbas.

JK – Pernia Quereshi is participating with us and she is the founder of Pernia’s pop up shop. Shaheen Abbas is another first timer who is bringing her exclusive jewellery collection, as well as Sanzany jewellers, who do a stunning range of real jewellery. So lots of exciting new brands for sure!

NK – In your opinion what sets MODISTA apart from other exhibitions?

AA – Our Curation.

JK – We try our best to curate it differently each time and give back something nice to the shoppers in terms of pampering them or looking after them.

NK – How would you each describe your sense of style?

AA – Comfortable.

JK –Definitely classic but I like to go with my my mood sometimes!

NK – What’s your favourite article of clothing/accessory that you can’t live without?

AA – My headphones.

JK – Mine has to be my Frog Prince lip balm, it’s green and once you wear it it’s pink. I’m totally addicted to it!

NK – Who is your style icon?

AA – In the new generation I love Sonam Kapoor.

JK – I personally don’t have a current favourite, but I would say anybody who can carry their clothes with style and confidence!

NK – What’s your favourite brand?

AA – I don’t want to name only one because there are too many Indian designers who are my favourites.

JK – I love them all but I especially enjoy wearing a sari from Sabyasacchi!

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to have a chat with us. Modista takes place on April 28th, 2018 at the Roda Al Murooj, hope to see you all there!
