Who says being fit can’t be fashionable! (Part 1)

Technology+ Fitness = FASHION!

A while ago I was introduced to the word and the world of ‘The Fitbit!’  For those of you who are not familiar with what it is, it’s similar to what a pedometer is, so it tracks your heart rate, but also the amount of steps you take, how much you sleep and how much food you consume.

According to their website, “Fitbit helps people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their goals. Fitbit pioneered the connected health and fitness market starting in 2007, and since then, has grown into a leading global health and fitness brand. The Fitbit platform combines connected health and fitness devices with software and services to help people become more active, exercise more, sleep better, eat smarter, and manage their weight.”

However what caught my eye about the company was when they paired up with Fashion Giant, TORY BURCH!  The brand actually designed a collection of ‘bracelets’ and ‘pendents’ specifically to store your fitbit into and make it fashionable. So while you’re ‘taking your steps’ you can still look ‘classy and funky’ without having to compromise on your style!

Not content with capturing the U.S market, Fitbit has entered 55 different countries, including India as one of it’s 6 strategic markets (according to the economic times of India.)

In fact during last week’s ‘Lakme Fashion week,’ which took place in Mumbai, India, they paired up with renowned Indian designer, Masaba Gupta to showcase their new range of products, which include the Blaze and the Alta. They were also one of the key sponsors at this years Lakme Fashion Week, which has given them the exposure to enter this new market aggressively.

However I feel a competition abrewing, with San Francisco technology based company Misfit! They have designed the worlds most elegant and sophisticated activity tracker, called the shine.

Misfit have paired up with Austrian, high quality crystal product designers, SWAROVSKIto bring you a range of one of the first ever jewellery activity tracker collections!

According to the misfit site, “The Swarovski Shine Collection is one of the first activity tracking jewelry collections designed to make to look great every day, all day long. The fully faceted Swarovski Shine Activity Tracking Crystal measures your daily activities and quality of sleep, and syncs wirelessly with your smartphone.”

So Which team are you on, Fitbit and Tory Burch or Misfit and Swarovski?  My money’s on Tory, as I always feel she can never do any wrong!
